Distributed generation lowers costs
Distributed generation options offer lower costs. Most energy options fall into one of two camps: central generation, which takes place at remote power plants where energy recycling is impractical; and local generation, which occurs on site at manufacturing facilities, universities, and other places where large amounts of energy are used. The graphs below compare the CO2 emissions and costs associated with central and local generation options.
As these graphs show, local generation can save institutions money while doing right by the environment.
